PAPOH LANAI PAINT OUT
Here are some specifics on housing, transportation and location ideas for the Lanai Paint out. Please read over the info and get back to us if you are interested in participating in the event ASAP.
Lanai is basic and easy really. This will be a relaxing paint out. We will be within walking or shuttle distance of the most likely locations. Manele Bay is a 10 minute shuttle ride away from Lanai City, The Lodge at Koele, about 15 minutes up the hill from town and town is awesome. The houses in Lanai City are little plantation cottages painted in a variety of tropical colors. It is a small town, folks there tend to be friendly and helpful. Restaurants are within walking distance form Hotel lanai or houses in town.
Housing: There are hotels (listed below) but if you are interested in renting a house with PAPOH members in Lanai City, please contact PAPOH ASAP at papohadmin@gmail.com. The rates are $45.00 per person per night. I feel that this is the most economical housing option. House is basic but has a kitchen and is in the middle of the really quaint small town and centrally located. The shuttle drops you off a few blocks away at Hotel Lanai and one can wheel their supplies and suitcases right to the house. Colorful cottages are everywhere in the neighborhood, restaurants are within walking distance and you can paint right there. I have spent 4 days painting there with no car, just walking around to different cottages. Since they book fast and it is first come first serve, please let PAPOH know ASAP if you are interested. PAPOH has irons in the fire (or shall we say, paintbrushes on the canvas) regarding the development of a Lanai Paint Out - We are considering holding the Paint Out during the month of June - Stay tuned!
Signature Member Jury Competition
Plein Air Painters of Hawaii is excited to be organizing a juried competiton to select up to five new Signature members. For each applicant, 5 digital images of your paintings will be juried by one or two independent jurors. Stay tuned, as we are not yet certain of the dates, but we'll more than likely be holding the competition in October 2012.
