Colleen Howe Bleinberger was born in Utah in 1953. She grew up on a 1,000 acre cattle ranch in the Big Hole Valley area of southwestern Montana, where her love of open landscape began. She studied painting at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University in Utah and also has had extensive study with Sally Strand, Michael Workman and T. Allen Lawson. She loves teaching landscape painting and currently holds workshops across the United States and France. Her work has been featured in The Pastel Journal, The Artist’s Magazine, American Artist and International Pastel Artist. She will be making two pastel painting instructional videos in May of 2011.
She and her husband, Ernie, love Hawaii. They were married in Lahaina in October of 2010 and visit there often, plotting their plan to move to this area in 2012. Colleen has made many trips to Hawaii, and she is enjoying the process of making many paintings of the Hawaiian Islands and all possible subject matter.
