Jeannie grew up in Pennsylvania and attended York Academy of Arts in York, Pa. She moved to Southern California and trained at the Mission Renaissance studios in the traditional methods used by the Great Masters. While she loved living in Southern California for over 20 years, the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands called her family to Kailua Kona in 2003.
While living in Hawaii she attended many workshops in pastel, oil painting and outdoor painting. In August of 2011, Jeannie joined the West Hawaii Plein Air Painters group and has loved painting outdoors ever since. She participated in a Paint-Out put on by the Plein Air Painters of Hawaii (PAPOH) that proved to be a lot of fun. In January of 2014, she participated in the “Big Island Plein Air Show” at the Wailoa Center in Hilo, Hawaii. The following year in December of 2015 she received “Best in Show” for her oil painting “Calm and Quiet” in the juried Big Island Plein Air Exposition held at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
Jeannie showcases her paintings at Lava Java as well as Daylight Mind, both located oceanfront on Alii Drive in Kailua Kona.
The majority of her artwork consists of small plein air landscape oil paintings (painted on location), although recently she has ventured into large scale paintings. Jeannie’s goal in painting is to capture the endless beauty and ever changing landscape that surrounds her on the rugged and magnificent Big Island of Hawaii.
