Peter was born in Long Beach, CA in 1949. At an early age he showed an interest in drawing and painting. That interest grew into a passion and led to a life-long pursuit.
He received his B.A. degree in Studio Arts from San Diego State University in 1972. After a career in the painting and decorative finish industry, Peter chose to focus on his passion for fine art and was accepted into the graduate program at the University of Oregon, completing his Master of Fine Arts degree in 1984.
Peter has exhibited his work in galleries in Cambria, Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, and Laguna Beach, CA – as well as Silverton, Roseburg, Hood River, and Bend, OR.
Peter has been invited to participate in plein air painting festivals from San Luis Obispo, CA to Hood River Oregon and was recognized nationally by the Paint America Corporation for 2011 and 2012 for his paintings, “Cascades of Granite” and “Canyon Symphony”. Peter sees his paintings as an arrangement of color notations built upon and played against one another resulting in an orchestration of visual elements.
Hawaii has held a fascination for me since my very first trip to Kauai in 1969. Since then several trips back has allowed me to absorb the natural beauty unique to the Hawaiian Islands. And that beauty has been the inspiration for many paintings over many years.
