PAPOH Supermoon Paintout will be held on November 14, 2016. This will be the biggest, brightest, and closest Supermoon of the year. The moon will not come this close to earth again until 2034. So we would like to take this opportunity for a Plein Air Painters of Hawaii nocturne paintout to paint this big, bright moon! See details below.
PAPOH Supermoon Paintout
Date: November 14, 2016
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Charley Young Beach in Kihei, Hawaii.
If you can, bring a fishing pole so we are legitimately on the beach at night, thanks.
Charley Young Beach is located at the North end of Kama’ole 1 Beach. The main entrance to Charlie Young Beach is located at the end of Kaiau Place at the intersection with Ili Ili Road. You will find a concrete staircase, just past the shower. This is the main point of access to the beach. Parking is located in the lot on the corner of Kaiau Place and South Kihei Road.
The moon should be above Haleakala by about 7 pm. You can come early if you would like to paint the sunset first, the sun sets at 5:50 pm. Bring a headlamp or other light so you can see your painting. A good way to deal with a nocturne is to attach lights to your umbrella.
